Learn more about funding to provide or improve services that support first responders and emergency workers living with or at risk for post-traumatic stress injuries (PTSI). The Supporting Psychological Health in First Responders (SPHIFR) grant program focuses on Alberta’s firefighters, police officers, paramedics, sheriffs, corrections officers and emergency workers who often deal with stressful, dangerous and traumatic situations. This stress has a negative impact on first responders and emergency workers and they experience post-traumatic stress injuries at significantly higher rates than the general population. SPHIFR program staff will present information on the program, funded projects, and the application and review processes, and two funding recipients will share their experiences.
